About TIPS  - TIPS Certified Alcohol Training

TIPS On-Premise alcohol training was the first course developed by Dr. Morris Chafetz for bartenders and servers with a goal to prevent guest intoxication in 1982. Dr. Chafetz is an author and founding director of the National Institute on Alcoholism and Abuse.

Today, TIPS (Training for Intervention ProcedureS) is the leading responsible alcohol training & certification program worldwide (50 U.S. States and 40 Counties). TIPS training provides participants with best practices and training to prevent underage drinking, driving while intoxicated (DWI/DUI) and intoxication.

The TIPS accredited alcohol training programs (On Premise, Off Premise, Concessions, Gaming) vary by state to address local jurisdictions and establishment requirements to ensure relevant course content and the highest quality e-learning experience for users. For example, The TIPS On-premise course focuses on establishments where alcohol is sold and consumed by the drink. TIPS offers specific courses for every establishment to ensure the participant becomes TIPS certified where and how they work.

The online training is 100% online, available 24/7, self-paced, and you can print an instant certificate upon completion. Exams are multiple-choice (approximately 40 questions) based upon the curriculum covered in the program. Participants who pass the exam with a score of 70% or better earn a certification card, valid for three years unless otherwise regulated for a lesser period of time by the state regulatory.

TIPS is committed to relevant content and e-learning experiences for all users over the Internet. Our mobile device stratgey (i.e., iPhone. iPad, Android and more) reflects our commitment to provide users with content the way they want it.
